Press Release
Helena Junttila is one of our most remarkable contemporary artists living in Lapland. Her works are like visualized images of human thoughts, feelings and experiences. A strong experience of nature combined with my most inner senses gives birth to subconscious nature experiences into my mind. A more free method of themes and techniques can be seen in her newest, reduced acrylic- and watercolour paintings.
The bear is a repeated theme in Helena Junttila´s art. The bear derives from a dream about meeting a bear. Since then, during the years, the bear has become the symbol of her own strength. Plants Helena Junttila has used in her works as the original courses of living from the period before man. The black earth and white roots give birth to a colourful plant.
Helena Junttila´s art has been exhibited in different parts of the world; in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Germany, Spain, Russia, USA, Australia and Japan. She was granted the state´s 3-year stipend in 2007. She is a member of the Association of the Painter´s Union and the Society of the Artists in Lapland. Helena Junttila lives and works in Sodankylä municipality, in the little village of Aska.
