SENSUS

(Lat.): meaning, sense, sensation, emotion

The starting points of this exhibition were certain emotions and sensory experiences. The figure in these images is in a state of sensual awareness – he`s aware of his own boundaries, trying out the limits between himself, another person, the real world and the reality of the image.

In these works I have tried to give substance to what it feels like to be in this kind of state, in the middle of an emotion.

I work thematically. The figures and motifs shift from one image to another taking on new meanings. It took a long time for the whole to take shape, but finally the images were born during an intense working process.

The exhibition images are all mixed media works. I use charcoal, black ink, water colour and oil pastels, drawing and painting with all of them. Each medium calls for a different approach, attitude and represent a different way of feeling. For me, this interaction is part of the experience.
