White & Black & Grand piano

Grand piano as a painting motive is familiar and recognizable to Helena Laine´s art.

In her grand piano paintings songs and music like Millions Millions Millions of Roses, French High Heels or Singing in the Rain are alive. The instrument gives the player the possibility to choose The Swan Song or Morgen Stimmung. In addition to that The clock ticks the timeless time and the hare leaps onto the keyboard.

When the form is grand piano, one is sure to hear yearning, sorrow, joy.

The latest works of Helena Laine are acrylic paintings on canvas, with a few collages. Having done many installations during years, she also now includes in her show columns and chairs covered with zebra pattern fabrics – you can sit on them to view the stories told by the grand piano paintings.

White & Black -theme is a comment to the so common black & white -nomenclature.
